**What was the DH-59 used for?**

The DH-59 was a real-time computer designed to process range data from Mobile Missile Equipment (MME) and output coordinates (X, Y, Z, H) for real-time guidance. Its outputs were used for graph plotting and print-outs, suggesting applications in missile tracking, navigation, or target acquisition.

**Who manufactured the DH-59?**

The DH-59 was produced by **Cubic Corporation**, a U.S.-based company known for defense and transportation systems. The company developed the computer for on-line, real-time processing in military or aerospace environments.

**How did the DH-59 process data?**

The system took **on-line input** from MME equipment, performed computations, and generated **X, Y, Z, and H coordinates** as outputs. These were sent to **D/A converters** (for analog graph plotting) and **B/BCD converters** (for digital print-outs), enabling real-time decision-making.

**Is the DH-59 still in use today?**

There is no evidence in the source material that the DH-59 remains in active service. Given its 1960s-era design and reliance on early real-time computing techniques, it was likely superseded by more advanced systems. However, it remains a notable example of early military computing.

**Where can I find technical details about the DH-59?**

The most detailed available description comes from a **1964 Ballistic Research Laboratories (BRL) report**, archived at [ed-thelen.org](http://ed-thelen.org/comp-hist/BRL64-a.html#AERIS). This document outlines its role in real-time guidance and data conversion processes.
