Miss Walther was brought in as general assistant by Dr. Valentiner and showed such enthusiasm and knowledge about early American Art and artifacts that she soon was advanced to curatorial status. Her correspondence with collectors and art dealers in this country and abroad (some of it in German) shows her expertise and discrimination in evaluating objects as possible additions to the Museum collection.[26].
