Gosling attended Eton College before marrying Lady Victoria Kerr in 1903. The couple had four children: William Douglas Gosling, Edward Gosling, Nigel Gosling, and Robert Gosling[4].He served as High Sheriff of Essex from 1927 to 1928[5].
