## Summary

Stan Brakhage was born January 14, 1933, in Kansas City.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] He held United States citizenship.[8] His occupations included cinematographer, film editor, film director, actor, university teacher, and screenwriter. His field was experimental film.[9]He was educated at Dartmouth College, South High School, and San Francisco Art Institute. He was employed by University of Colorado, University of Colorado Boulder, University of Colorado Boulder, and School of the Art Institute of Chicago (1970–1980).[10] He was influenced by Isidore Isou.His notable works include Dog Star Man.[10] His awards included a Guggenheim Fellowship and a Maya Deren Award.[11][12] He died March 9, 2003, in Victoria, with bladder cancer as the cause of death.[1][2][3][4][5][7].
