## Summary

Rudolf Heidenhain was born on January 29, 1834, in Kwidzyn.[1][2][3][4][5][6] He held citizenship in the Kingdom of Prussia and the German Reich.[6] He worked as a physiologist, university teacher, and physician.[6] His field was physiology.[7]His father was Heinrich Jakob Heidenhain.[6] He was educated at the University of Königsberg, Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Frederick William University Berlin, and 17 Słowiańska Street in Kwidzyn.[6] He was employed by Frederick William University Berlin (?–1857), Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (1857–1859), and the University of Wrocław (1859–1897).[6]He received the Order of the Red Eagle 2nd Class, the Cothenius Medal, the Baly Medal, and was a Foreign Member of the Royal Society.[8] He was a member of the Royal Society, the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and the Silesian Society for the Culture of the Fatherland.[9] He died on October 13, 1897, in Wrocław.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
