## Summary

Michael Manley was born December 10, 1924, in Kingston.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] He held Jamaican citizenship. He was educated at the London School of Economics and Political Science and McGill University.[9]He served as Leader of the Opposition (1969–1972). He was Prime Minister of Jamaica (1972–1980). He was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (1972–1975). He was also a Member of the Privy Council of the United Kingdom.His children were Rachel Manley, Sarah, Joseph, and David.[10][7] He received the Order of the Nation, Order of Merit, Order of the Companions of O. R. Tambo, Order of José Martí, Order of the Liberator, and Order of the Aztec Eagle. He died March 6, 1997, in Kingston, with prostate cancer as the cause of death.[1][11][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] He was buried at National Heroes Park.[4].
