## Summary

Lella Vignelli was born August 13, 1934, in Udine. She held citizenship in the Kingdom of Italy, Italy, and the United States. Her occupations included architect, businessperson, designer, and jewelry designer.[1][2][3][4] Her field included architecture, design, and industrial design.[1]She was educated at IUAV University of Venice and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[5] Her employers included American Airlines, Ford Motor Company, IBM, and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.[6][1]Her father was Provino Valle.[3] Her siblings were Gino Valle, Nani Valle, and Mariolina Valle.[2][7][1] She was married to Massimo Vignelli.[8][3][9]She received awards including the AIGA Medal, Compasso d'Oro, Gold Medal for Italian Architecture, gold medal, lifetime achievement award, President's Medal, plus 2 more.[10] She died December 22, 2016, in Manhattan.[11][12][13] The cause of death was dementia.[12].
