## Summary

José Ángel Gurría, born on May 8, 1950 in Tampico, is a Mexican politician, diplomat, and economist[1][2][3]. He studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Harvard University, University of Leeds, and University of Southern California.He served as Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development from 2006 to 2021, and previously held key Mexican cabinet posts including Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (1998–2000) and Secretary of Foreign Affairs (1994–1997), as well as director general from 1993 to 1994[4]. Gurría is also a member of the Royal Academy of Economic and Financial Sciences[5].Among his honors are an honorary doctorate from Haifa University, the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry, the Grand Cross of the Order of Orange-Nassau, Grand Officer of the Legion of Honour, Knight of the Order of Agricultural Merit, and the Order of the White Star, 1st Class, plus two additional awards[6].
