Charles Drew was born on June 3, 1904 in Washington, D.C.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7] and died on April 1, 1950 in Burlington[1][2][3][5][6][7] as a result of a traffic collision[8]. He was a United States citizen and was buried at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery[3].He worked as a physician, surgeon, and university teacher and was employed by Howard University Hospital and Howard University. His field of expertise was physician and hematology[9].Drew was educated at McGill Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Amherst College. He had two children: Charlene Drew Jarvis and Sylvia Drew Ivie[10].Among his honors, Drew received the Spingarn Medal and was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame[11][12].
